Yang Movement, Yin Fluid

Video of a babbling brook in Seattle, WA

Yang Movement, Yin Fluid - this concept has been on my mind since the start of this new lunar year. This yang fire year of the horse galloped in with ferocity this week. Energy was high, quick moving, and draining. I have already found this yang fire energy depleting my myself, my patients, and the the collective and I have been needling more yin points, giving more advice for consumption of fluids and taking time to rest to balance this yang fire energy with some yin water.

I, myself, took 3 baths this week since the start of the yang fire horse year (baths are often reserved as a once a month treat), but I felt that my body and soul needed the hydration, needed the stillness. I need the balance of water into the hectic yang fire week.

When I went for my meditation walk today, I saw the brook (after days of rain), full of babbling rapid energy. This made me contemplate about how nothing is purely yin or purely yang. It’s all relative, and they coexist within eachother. This video from my walk shows this yin fluid being moved with strong yang energy. Both yin and yang, co-creating something so beautiful.

I am hoping you are all taking the time to nourish your fluids, nourish yourself with grounding, taking time to balance this wild energy.

Sending healing blessings your way,

Dr. Kat Shea, LAc, DAcHM
