Year of the Horse 2026

We are entering the Year of the Yang Fire Horse from February 17th 2026- February 5th 2027; here is what you need to know!

First, we are saying goodbye to the Yin Wood Snake Year of 2025. You may have experienced a lot of growth and are now in the final shedding of any energy of versions of yourself that no longer resonate with who you want to be in this upcoming year.

Things that you can do to properly say goodbye to the year of the snake and shed before this new year’s energy:

  • Consider getting a haircut (cut off the remnants of last year)

  • Donate anything in your life that no longer resonates with your future self (clothes, books, anything)

  • Close out any tasks/loops that you don’t want to bring into the new year

  • Rest! Fire energy is coming, the time for rest is now

We are ushering a new era, a new version of self, completely new energy when we say hello to the Yang Fire Horse Year of 2026 on February 17th, 2026.

The characteristics of the Horse that you can strive to embody are: strong, determined, vibrant, forward-moving, action-oriented, intuitive, tenacious, passionate, flirty and fun.

This horse year is also a yang fire horse year, which correlates to the heart energy. Fire energy brings joy, new adventures, travel, playfulness, bubbly energy, spontaneity, inventions & imagination, passion & pleasure.

Imbalances of the heart can present as anxiety, scattered, agitation, insomnia, heart palpitations, cardiac issues, high blood pressure, and rashes. So, if you are someone with a tendency towards this imbalance, take extra care, this year.

Ways to help you feel your best and harness this yang fire horse energy the best you can are to:

  • Nourish yin fluids with clear broths, dark greens, seaweed, blackberries, black beans, and STAY HYDRATED!

  • Eat light, small meals with protein to sustain energy

  • Find joy in community & friendships, this year’s energy allows us to find fun and nourishment in spending time with people, we can become energized by choosing to spend time with loved ones.

  • Take time to rest; this year has a lot of yang energy requiring alot of yin rest

  • Meditate- any way you can- sitting, shaking qi gong, walking. Meditation might look different for you this year, it may be difficult to sit in one spot, so meditation may end up being more about moving your body, and expending excess energy.

We are wishing you the very best new year of the horse!
Best,

Dr. Kat Shea, LAc, DAcHM
